POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsibilities include assembling electronic components, subassemblies and systems using hand tools, light assembly equipment and lead-free solder stations. Assemblers are expected to follow production work instructions and shop orders to complete product assembly with the highest quality and efficiency.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Set up and operate appropriate equipment, tools, and fixtures for product assembly
  • Soldering of wires and components to printed circuit boards
  • Assembly and soldering of wiring harnesses
  • Hand assembly of plastic and metal heat sinks and case parts
  • Functional testing of work in progress and completed units
  • Packaging of finished goods (box and clamshell)
  • Works with production supervisor to ensure product quality by identifying and resolving assembly issues and highlighting continuous improvement opportunities
  • Maintain a safe, clean working environment
  • Read and apply documented quality system procedures
  • Read and understand work instructions and Bills of Material
  • Must understand and follow all rules of safety as defined by the employer and required by all applicable regulations.

Requirements:

Position Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer will perform all aspects of electronic design, development, validation and support from product inception through manufacturing.  The same individual will be responsible for ensuring the product meets all of the customer's requirements and passes compliance tests.  Comfortable working with motors and of-line power supplies.  Using a working knowledge of schematic capture, analysis tools/instruments, PCB layout, EMC / Compliance to support new and fielded designs with customers and manufacturing plants.

Primary Duties

  • Designs, troubleshoots, validates, tests and supports electrical products and systems to ensure the products meet the requirements and quality.
  • Responsible for writing supporting technical reports and documentation in support of the designs.
  • Collaborates with Mechanical, Firmware and Program Managers, as well as other internal and external partners.
  • Ensures the successful design, development, testing and implementation of both product and process changes.
  • Identifies issues and uses problem-solving to formulate and implement creative solutions to address electrical safety, EMC requirements, etc.
  • Leads small-scale development efforts and projects including planning, scheduling, and documentation required for design control.
  • Support Manufacturing plants with needed documentation, test equipment, etc. to ensure successful manufacture of the designs and products.

  • 4 plus years’ professional experience with the C programming language.

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering school.
  • 5+ years of practical engineering experience to include the design and development of electronic systems with proven ability to troubleshoot electronic systems.
  • Working knowledge of electronic design principles, analog and digital systems, and PCB manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with 1 to 4hp motor control and motors for Brushed DC, Brushless DC and AC Induction motor.

Utilize SMT machines to place surface mount parts and solder reflow the components to the printed circuit board. Responsible for the set-up of all pieces of equipment on the SMT line, including the screen printer, the pick and place machines, and the reflow oven.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adhere to all ESD requirements and board handling requirements.
  • Use of Moisture Sensitive Device (MSD) handling requirements based on component moisture-sensitive levels (MSL).
  • Utilize process sheets to ensure correct build of product.
  • Load feeders for surface mount machines using the load list provided by machine.
  • Verify correct part numbers are being used for the specific job being run.
  • Initiate and select correct programs for SMT screen printer & SMT pick and place machines and correct reflow profile for the reflow oven per work instructions.
  • Select the proper stencil screen for use during screen-printing operation.
  • Comply with Pivot-EDM’s standards of ESD, IPC-A-610, work instructions, and ISO procedures and policies.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As we continue to grow and scale our operations, we have an excellent opportunity for a new SMT Programmer / Technician in our facility just outside of Omaha, Nebraska. The ideal candidate will have hands on experience working with the manufacturing equipment associated with Electronics manufacturing.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports directly to the Operations and Engineering Manager and communicates frequently with employees at all levels. This person must be able to interface effectively with managers, office employees, production employees, suppliers, customers, and other individuals inside and outside of the organization.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support all aspects of electronic manufacturing, including Surface Mount Technology (SMT), through-hole assembly, convection reflow, through hole, AOI, testing, and conformal coating.
  • Resolve manufacturing and process issues.
  • Run and debug first piece programs in SMT and associated processes.
  • Detail product costs and prepare quoting packages.
  • Develop, qualify, and document new manufacturing processes or modify existing processes to fit the requirements of new products.
  • Work with NPI groups (internal and external) to develop both hardware and electromechanical assemblies, ensuring the designs are reliable, cost effective, and designed for manufacturability and testability.
  • Support Supply Chain with analysis of alternate electrical components and commodity management.
  • Identify, design, procure, and validate fixtures & tools. Support factory equipment selection process to meet production plans.
  • Initiate, take ownership, and complete technical projects leading to new or improved products or processes.
  • Perform process capability assessments and establish methods to control process output.
  • Develop, verify, and validate products from process development to successful commercialization.
  • Train, develop, and/or provide work direction to operators and technicians.
  • Research and recommend new technologies to improve reliability, efficiency and contribute to cost reduction.
  • Communicate business and technical needs, status, results, and observations to operating, technical and business teams.
  • Responsible for process documentation and ensuring it is kept current like Work Instructions, Standard Work documents, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
  • Understand and adhere to the Pivot EDM Quality and EHS policies.
  • Participate in and coordinate CI initiatives, Lean Manufacturing, Problem-Solving, Kaizen events and other improvement activities.
  • Assist in identifying and prioritizing opportunities to improve customer satisfaction, increase net income, enhance productivity, and further employee performance.
  • Act as a technical resource for daily electronic manufacturing activities.
  • Serve as the point of contact for specific project initiatives and best practices.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates or technical degree in an engineering equivalent or combination education and experience.
  • 2 – 3 years of experience in printed circuit board assembly processes. Preferably in programming SMT process equipment used in PCBA manufacturing: Pick and place, solder paste, thermal profile monitoring.
  • Ability to teach others.
  • Able to interpret and create electronic schematics, assembly, and fabrication drawings.
  • Basic working knowledge of printed circuit board manufacturing including Gerber files and CAM software.
  • Basic working knowledge of CAD (SolidWorks or other) software.
  • IPC 610 knowledge
