Touch Screen Technology & Electrical Voting System
Recently, Pivot International designed and manufactured a tabletop continuous screen voting machine intended to be used by the public when voting electronically. This design was a radical departure from the smaller single screen touch screen voting machines that were in use at the time. These smaller screen machines took much scrolling through many pages to display all of the voting choices. The continuous screen machine displays all voting choices across three large LCDs at one time.
In order to develop this model to meet the requirements, we had to design a video controller that would split the video across the three LCDs to appear as one screen. The housing also had to be designed to be light enough for portability but strong enough to withstand constant loading and unloading from transportation. Each unit was assembled to include a broad range of useful features, including multiple language capacity, 500+ ballot positions, an internal back-up battery, zoom-ability, access panels for easy service, and Braille on voter buttons. Each voting machine was equipped with three 20.1-inch monitors. The housing material was constructed from durable cast plastic. We also included a protective carrying case complete with printer as part of the monitor housing.
Meeting strict government standards, Pivot International was able to successfully design and build a voting machine, providing a portable and secure voting solution that could be easily used by the general public.
